Wet Monday

February 18th, 2008 - Sandra Marshall

Woke up this morning feeling really pleased that the strong winds we have been having for the past week appear to have gone for now, only to discover that it was a tad soggy outside instead! However this is merely a Winter blip in our otherwise beautiful weather. It also means that I don’t have to water the plants which were starting to gasp from neglect. Overall however it hasn’t been great weather for my fitness as running along the beach battling against strong winds is not really that appealing. Today instead is the start of my new gym routine and for me it is going to be a real treat to have all those lovely machines to work with! I will still be aiming to run at least a couple of times a week and I do want to get back up to 10km, but this week I am giving my back in particular a rest from the pounding and will be concentrating on strengthening some different muscles for a change.

It’s good to hear that you are taking your life into your own hands and thinking about a marathon.

“You have to forget your last marathon before you try another. Your mind can’t know what’s coming.” (Frank Shorter, US marathon runner)

I hope this doesn’t put you off!

    Mucha suerte

Nah. I know it will hurt. I know I will hate it. I know I would be mad ……..

Problem is, is like a snowball. The idea will just gather momentum and the next thing I know I will be running one!
