Weekend Breakfasts

April 21st, 2008 - Sandra Marshall

I’ve just had a very pleasant chilled-out weekend after my Mum’s visit, generally getting stuff sorted, but it did include a very pleasant evening with friends on Saturday night eating home-cooked paella, AND 2 breakfasts in the port.

Saturday morning I met a friend at 12pm (very civilised) for a ‘brunch’ at La Plaza. I guess brunch here really referred to the time as we only went for tostadas and coffee and, as we didn’t indulge in a ‘proper’ cooked breakfast, we didn’t get to quote Almerimar Life and receive our free drink. Brunch in the big sense only really exists for me in the US anyway and in Florida particularly.

Sunday morning I met up for the first time with some regular readers of the site who were over to finalise details of their property before hopefully moving to Almerimar in the Summer. This time we met at La Bahia. I have to own up to having woken up really early and already having had a big bowl of cereal and local strawberries, but I enjoyed my mug of coffee, and the scrambled eggs did look good. There is definitely something great about a mug instead of a cup. I love to sit with my hands cupped round it, and find myself never actually putting it down until I’ve finished.

I guess the only bad thing about the weekend (apart from Chris still being in Dubai) was the weather. Yesterday particularly was so windy that for a Sunday the square was pretty deserted. For those of us who live here full time it is not such a big deal, but I feel sorry for anyone who was hoping for a warm beach holiday this week! Having said that in some shelter and under the sun it is still pretty warm, as long as you don’t blow away!!!
