UK Shopping From Almerimar
February 18th, 2008 - Sandra MarshallOk so living here in Almerimar we all miss things about the UK, and for women a lot of that is shopping. Most of my clothes, cosmetic, books etc. still come from the Uk and US but I am lucky in that I have family willing to send on my Internet orders to Spain, and between us Chris and I go back to the UK a few times a year to pick up other stuff up.
I already knew that Amazon delivers to Spain and you can check that out via the link on our site, but I read a good article the other day by a lady living in France who wrote about her experiences of ordering online and which companies were willing to deliver to Europe. Actually in Almerimar I would say we have pretty good access to a lot of things, including most cosmetics brands, but good quality, casual ’sporty’ clothes to me are more of a problem. I love Mango and some of the other jeans shops in El Ejido for basics, but for sweaters, tops, Nike and my CK underwear I tend to look for a better choice.
From the article I learn that Boden, Landsend and LLBean all ship to Europe, but she introduces “Continent Cut Off By Fog” syndrome when it comes to the many UK online sites of big retailers who won’t ship outside the UK. These include Hobbs, LK Bennett and amazingly M&S. Hopefully this will change, and on the M&S front rumour has it we are about to get one in Roquetas! Usefully she does talk about alternatives for clothes and also some useful sites for the health conscious who struggle to buy their vitamins over here, whilst bemoaning the fact that Boots also suffers from CCOBF syndrome.
One particularly useful site she mentions is ‘UK Shopping In Spain’:

Well, blow me down, they will forward your shopping from those retailers suffering from CCOBF - Heal’s, Boots, M & S, you name it, to Spain and apparently they are proposing to expand into France.”
