Twitter is a micro social networking service that is all the rage at the moment. I have had accounts since the invite only pre beta days, but it is only since the start of 2009 that it has really taken off.
Sands and I use it in a number of ways:
- Sands has an account @alstrays that she uses on her Almerimar Life Strays Blog. She uses this to promote the site, raise funds for the Stray Cats and to communicate with other people around the world that are ‘into’ helping rescue animals.
- I have a account; @myapplestuff that I use to promote this blog and the various affiliate offers that we have that may interest readers. I also use it to communicate (a lot!) with a wide range of individuals on a number of different subjects
- There is an account that we use specifically in relation to the Today In Almerimar section of the site, as a way of promoting specific events on the site. This is something you can take advantage off for 5€ a day. Please see the About page for details.

TwitPic
A feature that we use a lot on the site is TwitPic, the ability to post a photograph directly onto the web and subsequently onto the site. We have used this for a while, but have now added a new feature ……. the ability for readers of the blog to post their photos directly onto the site! Naturally we need to be careful how we allow and moderate this but if you are interested in having the ability to post your photos directly on this page (see sidebar) then please email me. The process is really easy, if ‘accepted’ you will receive a email address that you use to email your photographs to. It is as simple as that, email your photos to the address provided and your photos will appear on the site and on the Readers TwitPic site.
