This Week In Almerimar 080623
June 23rd, 2008 - Chris MarshallA fairly eventful week I guess. Getting bitten by the Stray cat wasn’t exactly a highlight I admit, but it did provide a laugh at the doctors, and helping the strays is important enough to put up with the odd ’scratch’. Euro2008 has been one of the best tournaments for a long time, with some excellent games. The Spain v Italy game was a poor game, but a great night. Good fun ‘live blogging’ and really rewarding to meet some readers at the end of the night!
I am still mulling over the suggestion of a golf specific blog. Thanks to the people that have emailed already offering their services as contributors. Of anything is going to happen then it will only be on a commercial basis, so contributors will need to be paid, the site will need to be sponsored etc.
As for this week, I want a very quite week, with some exercise and healthy eating. I have had a really bad 6 weeks really, but now the various injuries are cleared up (enough) to start some gentle jogging, tennis and bike rides, that has top be the focus. A break from the booze and tapas wouldn’t be a bad idea either to be honest!!!
Next week we have Sands niece and friend over - two 19 year old girl sin the house. Boy am I looking forward top that (not!!!!!!!).

Quick Snippets
At the same time as trying to get me drunk at the recent Foro Anniversary Paco sort of explained that his new restaurant/bar on the beach (currently know as the Mirador) is going to be called La Barbera, apparently as his father used to be a barber. Still not 100% sure when it will open, but looks like week commencing 7th July. At least he isn’t going to call it Sweeny Todd Inn!!!
For the golfers amongst you, you probably already know that they have closed the back 9 of the main (think it is know rather grandly as the Masters Course) as they are continually watering the course to help it make it through the summer, so they are shuttling people about in golf buggies again.
The roadworks seem to be getting better, although we drive down to the marina so infrequently (prefer to walk or cycle) that it hasn’t really effected us. I know a lot of people have got fed up with the inconvenience, but now the summer is here you really are better walking down as often as you can as parking is always harder this time of year. The road from the marina to the Mercadona is open again, as is the roundabout into the marina by the Cafe Minimal, the roundabout at the Mercadona and the road between Porto Fino and the Piramide.
