This Week In Almerimar 080616
June 16th, 2008 - Chris MarshallWell summer is well and truly here - we have dusted down the BBQ on the balcony and fired it up for the first time, which means that we are into a totally different daily pattern now - dictated by the cats and the weather:
During the summer we tend to get up a lot earlier as the cats want to be out and about by 6am, and Sands and I prefer to get any exercise we are doing over before the sun gets too hot, so ideally by 10am. That means we have a earlier than usual mini breakfast, and a second breakfast of tea and toast around 11.30am.
Lunch remains our main meal, but a much lighter meal than in the winter so a lot of cold salmon, salads, BBQ chicken etc. When we cook or prepare food we try and do so to cover a number of days, especially in the summer when we tend to pick rather than have full meals.
We tend to have a longer siesta (either on the roof or in the Air Conditioning which is a total extreme I know), and a much later, lighter meal in the evening, if we are not in the marina having tapas - no big long lunches or dinners for us in this heat! The cats tend to like to be on the roof from 10 until 12 so that all works really well. Hopefully with the new roof we will try and spend more time up there ourselves in the evenings, chilling out with a book or some music and maybe some wine (although I need to get my mind around training again now the knee is nearly better).
As far as this week goes Euro2008 is the main event really. No doubt I will be down at Al-rruz again on Wednesday for the Greece game. Watch out for details as soon as I get them off Inés.
The Event Calendar is very empty at the moment, unless you are a golfer, in which case you will no doubt know all about the competitions.
We have to catch the pregnant cat this week, and continue to feed and gain the confidence of the discarded kitten so we can get them both up to Casa de los Gatos.
Once the roof is done we will dust off the BBQ on the roof and cook something to christen the new roof. I reckon I will do my signature beef burgers, with a ‘twist’! I have been thinking of a slight variant to them for this year so will let you know how they work out!!!!
