Thanks Spencer: Alamar Centro Naútico
June 12th, 2009 - Chris MarshallThanks To Spencer At Alamar Centro Naútico I have sorted out the issue I couldn’t resolve in the UK. I had bought a cigarette power socket from Halfords that in theory was simple to set up. It had three wires, but no intsructions. The guys at Halfords were next to useless as well, so the ‘best’ I managed to achieve was power to the socket (the light was on) but it wouldn’t power anything.
Had a chat with Spencer, and he explained a few options, but thenpulled out a much simpler socket, with only two wires (no light attached so wouldn’t be permanantly pulling power from the battery) and they were marked + and -, so even I couldn’t fail ……. and I didn’t!!
As an added benefit it is made from plastic with a rubber shield so I was able to mount it in a much more accesible position ….. perfect.

At the same time I bought a mounting bracket off him so that I could attach a camera or video camera to the Road KIng Classic. Took a bit of adapting but got there in the end. Problem was that the Harley vibrates so much that the camcorder anti drop feature keeps kicking in, so a return to Alamar and a ferret around in their little black box of odds and sods and I came out with some rubber washers that seem to have done the job.
The way I have attached the camera is to enable a tripod head to be screwed onto the handlebars, so I can fix either a camera or camcorder to the plate and attach that to the tripod head. I need to work a little more on damping the effects of the vibration, maybe with a anti shock tripod head, or some rubber mountings between the camcorder and the plate.
Is good to have places like Alamar here in Almerimar. Next visit there will be to pick up some rope I think as we are looking at making a play area for the cats on both the roof and the balcony!
