Tapas Free Month

I was talking to someone earlier about my comment about a community project to try and tidy Almerimar up.
Asked how I would fund it I came up with this suggestion: we go tapas free for a month!
We are fortunate enough to have tapas included with our drinks here in Almerimar. They aren’t ‘free’, they are part of the price that you pay, but as a guide a 2€ drink probably includes on average 30¢ for the tapas (I may be wrong but for now it doesn’t mater)
Now very few of us couldn’t do with shedding a few lbs so how about if for a month we all paid full price (2€ in above example) for our drinks BUT we didn’t get any tapas included. The bars donated the 30¢ from every drink towards the community fund and at the end of the month we added it all up and the council matched whatever we had raised, and collectively we agreed what project we could afford and we used the money and volunteer labour to get the jobs done.
Are bound to be flaws in the above, and I am sure far better ideas, but as a coconut of an idea to be knocked down with a better one that was my ‘starter for 10′
For those worried about going hungry the bars can still sell you a tapas, or better still why not take the opportunity to not fill up on tapas for once and try something off the bars menus instead …. and maybe they could give a small % to the fund for the increased business
