Funnily enough this was the first bar that we went into on our first trip to Almerimar, and it has become a firm favourite. The tapas are plentiful and of good quality but be careful when ordering them in addition to the ones you get free with your drink (beer and wine), or if ordering as raciones - you can end up with a lot of potatoes! We made that mistake on our first visit, we ordered a drink and some raciones to include Patas Bravas and Patas Fritas, only to find that everything came with chips anyway!
Oscar is one of Almerimars’ characters and we see him as often in others bars as in his own.

Inside El Farol

Inside is a long bar which is very much the Spanish style where you can sit and talk to Oscar, friends, or even total strangers.

Typical Sunday Morning outside El Farol

Outside El Farol shares a courtyard with a number of other bars which makes for a very lively time of a summers evening. Probably our favourite time to go down is a Sunday afternoon, around 2pm when the tapas includes some excellent Paella.
In many ways El Farol, and Oscar in particular, symbolise what is so good about Almerimar.
