Roasted Fresh Figs wrapped in Bacon
September 26th, 2011 - Chris MarshallReceived a request via Twitter for a recipe using fresh figs. Dug this one out for a tapas dish that we have made from time to time:
Ingredients
- Fresh Figs
- Bacon Slices
- Red Wine
- Brown Sugar
- Fresh Pepper
Assuming you want to make enough for 6-8 people you will need about a dozen fresh figs, a slice of bacon for each fig, a good sized glass of red wine, 1 tablespoon of brown sugar and pepper to taste.
Toothpicks of cocktails sticks needed as well.
To Prepare
1. Dissolve the sugar and red wine on a medium heat until slightly syrupy.
2. Cut figs in half, wrap with the bacon, and secure with the cocktail stick.
3. Cook for 3-5 mins under grill on each side.
4. Drizzle the mixture over the figs and enjoy with a glass of chilled white wine!
