Pictures Of Spain - Mercadillo
October 5th, 2007 - Sandra Marshall
This Wednesday, I introduced a friend who has just moved to Almerimar from another part of Spain to the El Ejido Mercadillo. She was very pleasantly surprised. It many ways it was just what she was expecting from other markets she had been to in Spain, but the size of the market and range of produce was new to her, and as I noticed for the first time this week, as well as a thriving cafe van, we also have a wooden toilet hut! What luxury!!!
The picture below shows my favourite nut and spice stall and the main reason I go regularly to the market. I love the fresh produce but there are things at the nut stall that I cannot buy anywhere else, AND I´m a loyal customer as I like the guy with glasses who runs this stall. He always invites me to try the nuts before I buy AND he gives me sweets as an extra which, although not my thing, Chris gratefully receives!

Another interesting stall:

This picture was taken from behind the nut and spice stall. My friendly owner saw me taking photos and thought I would get a better one from where he was standing. He was right! Check out the lovely veggies!
