Notes From The UK
May 12th, 2008 - Sandra MarshallHow weird it has been. Chris has been bemoaning the wind and rain (and lack of Internet access) in Spain, while I have been basking in glorious sunshine over here in the UK. Something doesn’t seem quite right!
I’m now chilling out at my mother’s after a very busy few days, shopping and masses of chatting at my mini school reunion Saturday and Sunday. More on that later as I did actually manage to take a few pictures before I got too immersed in the catching up and eating and drinking.
Today I must praise the NHS as I have just had my teeth checked and cleaned for a mere £16. Overall my trip is going well, apart from a slight tickling cough I seem to have picked up along the way. This may be the result of a slight chill, or a recurring little bug that my sister has been complaining about. I also spent an interesting 3 hrs on saturday afternoon in and around an NHS hospital (don’t ask), which was not such a good experience!
I also have to once again praise wireless networks, and particularly people who don’t password protect theirs as I am happily logged onto to someone’s now. My Mum’s friend offered me the use of hers, but seems to have given me completely the wrong password, so I’ll stick with this one for now. This does mean that I am not going to get to test Chris’s latest little gadget modem thing, but I am saving £4 a day, which by the end of the week would buy me a pair of jeans in TK-maxx!
OK enough of my ramblings for now. I’m off to walk Mum’s dog with her in the pine woods and then we are having smoked haddock for supper. Yippee! This wonderful fish is pretty high on my list of things I miss from the UK and way above anything like HP sauce. SO here’s hoping your weather in Almerimar stays as sunny as here in Formby, Lancashire, and I’m off to find some sensible walking shoes, running being on hold until at least tomorrow.
