Noray Cafe/Restaurant

April 24th, 2008 - Sandra Marshall

We´ve only been once to the Noray Cafe, but I wholeheartedly agree with the praise Alex gives in his review, and we will be going back there again soon.

“We had lunch today at Noray Cafe/Restaurant in Darsina 3 in Almerimar which comprised a fresh pineapple and prawn salad, American Pizza with hot chilli oil and a tapas of tortilla and large alcaparras. Including a glass of wine, a beer, cafe solo and a free chopita the bill was €23.00. Certainly no rip off here!

Mary and I have been going to the Noray for nearly 5 years. We usually lunch there once a week and occasionally have a drink and tapas during the week or at weekends. We are always greeted by the owners as “old friendsâ€? and made to feel very welcome. The selection of main dishes is limited but includes whole baby leg of lamb, pork, game, various local fish, seafood and pasta in various sauces so is ideal for families. In short, something for everybody and just a little different to other restaurants in the marina. Without doubt they make the best Pizza around and will tailor make just about any combination. The salads are unusual and very fresh and there is a wide selection of raciones and tapas. Good for breakfast, lunch and dinner or just a drink to meet up with friends. Nice touches are linen napkins and table cloths, attractive crockery and the seating is extremely comfortable. Probably our favourite cafe in the port serving great coffee. The only criticism is there are two TV´s and a sound system which sometimes compete with each other. But that´s a personal preference as is my dislike of smoking in restaurants generally.”

One last thing I’d like to add is that I particularly liked the cosy ambience when we went there on a windy day about a month ago. I feel that a lot of the restaurants here have lovely terraces, but don´t always have a particularly welcoming inside. Cafe Noray has both.
