No More Animal Adverts

Gumtree: Stop giving puppy mills and amateur exotic animal breeders a platform to advertise their animals.

eBay, Facebook and Freecycle banned adverts for the sale of animals on their sites long ago. It’s time for Gumtree to do the same thing.

Gumtree has an entire section devoted to pets for sale with thousands upon thousands of adverts for everything from puppies and kittens to pythons. Allowing these adverts just gives irresponsible breeders and puppy mills a platform and encourages them to continue their cruel businesses.

Hundreds of thousands of animals are already languishing in sanctuaries around the country. The last thing we need are businesses encouraging the breeding and abuse of more animals.
