My Sunday In Almerimar

November 10th, 2008 - Chris Marshall

Orla Enjoying A Drink

Had a really good Sunday!!! Woke up about 6.30 am as Mori and Orla were having a play fight on the bed. Got up to let Mori out, and Saidi jumped up on the bed for a fuss. After that we all went back to sleep until 9.30am.

Orla had a good play and then decided that she wanted a drink and couldn’t be bothered to go to her bowl when my glass of water was so handy (as you can see above). Thanks to the iPhone and QIK was able to capture the moment on video without having to get out of bed.

Had a bit of a play with the cats and a lie in watching some TV then headed out on the bike for a bike ride along the beach ……. first in a LONG time. Felt really good to be out, and with the weather so perfect there were a lot of Spaniards out walking with their families and a lot of yachts out sailing. I also noticed that El Ejido Rugby were playing at home this week (I knew but had forgotten).

Perfect Day For A Sail

Unfortunately they have enforced some stupid rule at the rugby pitch so that the spectators have to stand outside the fence to watch. The fence is necessary to protect the pitch from unauthorised use, dog crap etc but until this season you could always stand inside to watch.

To put it bluntly this new ‘rule’ is a load of crap!!!!! The logic is that in order for a rugby team to take a quick throw in the ball must not be touched by anyone else when it goes out of play. This has been the rule for years, but this year they have decided that in order to ensure this is the case only two linesman, the medic and a water carrier from each team is allowed inside the fence. As if they took quick throw ins anyway ………

Anyway as far as I am concerned it made it impossible to take any photos, and standing pressed up against a fence to watch a game of rugby isn’t fun, respectful or something that I will be doing again.

Shame really as the social aspect afterwards was as good as ever with some incredibly good rice soup on offer. Going to explore the option of being let inside to take the photos each week but not holding out much hope.

After a excellent post match soup and a few beers while I caught up with the boys I headed back as was on the Fat Boy and had a few chores to do before watching the football.

I also wanted to spend some time with the cats, who are definitely all getting on a lot better:

Chores and football over time to catch up on some Sky+, then a perfect Shepherds Pie, Strictly Come Dancing, a read of the Sunday Times, this post and now off to bed.

A pretty cool Sunday, hope yours was as good as mine?

Have done a separate post for you with the fixtures and emailed you the details of Alberto and Gabriel.

  3. Mac Sokulski Says:

Maybe the rules were set up, so the spectator don’t get killed during the match? I agree, that rule is quite silly. Maybe next time, come up with a fake press badge, so you could get into the enclosure and take some good shots :)

  4. Chris Marshall Says:

I think I could get in to watch the game, but that wouldn’t be any good as a huge part of watching any sport live is the ‘crack’ with the other spectators.
