18th June: Original Post

Yesterday evening Sands got a call about a distressed kitten in a garden here in Almerimar. When she arrived she found this beautiful little girl, along with the remains of what she assumed had been her brother or sister. Fluer was nervous but not wild and Sands was able to pick her up and bring her back home, with some much appreciated help from Jane.
Apart from watery eyes and a slight limp on her back right leg Fleur seems fine, and although she hissed a little last night when we went to stroke her, she was happy to be stroked, and more than happy to be fed and given some milk.
This morning she is out of her cage, sitting on Sands knee, exploring, playing and purring her little heart out. It is truly amazing how quickly they respond to warmth, love, security, food and drink. It is remarkably rewarding to be able to help such a little creature as well.
This morning she off to the vet to be checked over and to have her leg looked at, then I suspect we will have a house guest for a couple of days until she is strong enough to go to a foster home here in Almerimar.
She is more than welcome to stay!
19th June: With Mori
Mori has taken a keen interest in her and is being very protective. Fleur is just so happy; lots of food, milk, sleep and cuddles ….. and most importantly safety and love!

Oscar isn’t so sure but is showing an interest:

20th June With Mori

21st June
The little girl has been brilliant all weekend. Accepting being in her cage without a fuss, but always hapy to come out and sit with us on the Futon and play with a feather and a woll ball. As the weekend proressed her eyes have got much clearer and she has responded well to being well fed, plenty of milk, and a huge amount of attention. She obviously feels well in herself as she now wants to jump around and pay with the other cats!
Fingers crossed the opertaion is OK this morning and she is soon able to be join in and really start to enjoy her life. It can’t have been great to date, but it has certainly been good for her this weekend!
21st June Post Op

What a brave little girl! Her femur was snapped, which has been pinned. In addition the top part had also split length wise which normally they would have drilled and wired together, but as her bones are too small the driling would have fragmented them so she is going to have to hope that the bone knits together. The vet is optimistic that it will, and the ‘worst case’ is that when she is older she may need another operation.
For now though she is home but wobbly as she had a big morphine injection. She is on antibiotics and painkillers every 8 hours for the next 10 days, and has some herbal medicine to speed her recovery that she has to take every 8 and 12 hours …. a lot of nursing ahead then!
In 15 days time she is back for a Xray and check up and then if all is well pin will be out in 30 days.
Mori and Oscar welcomed her back with a nose tap and a sniff, and even Saidi is showing signs of concern. Fleur has had a little food, and is currently purring and seems very glad to be back!!

21st June Videos
3 hours after picking her up she has found her Mojo! So proud of the little girl:
June 21st Pin
Just gone to check on the litle lady before settling her down for the night and it looks like she has pulled the pin out a little
Will probably be taking her to the vet in the morning.
June 22nd Pin
Just given her a big fuss as she was meowing, not in pain but for company! She has had her pain killer tablet with some wet food this morning (6.30am) and was extremely happy to see us. The pin seems to have settled and the vet last night sent a text saying a little movement was OK and that she should be fine, but to keep an eye on it today.
22nd June: Swollen Leg

Not sure if the pin has moved much. Her leg is very swolen which is to be expected and the wound has opened a little at the top and I think exposed more of the pin, which would be good news.
She has been in great spirits today, taken her medicine, eaten her food, but hasn’t een very active as I suspect yesterday is catching up on her, the morphine has warn off, and her leg is hurting her.
Still eating well, purring, looking around at the world …… she is doing well and couldn’t be in a better place!
23rd June: Playing A Bit
Well she certainly has a healthy appetite and is always happy for a fuss! This morning she was playing a little with a ball and putting weight on her leg BUT the pin keeps slipping so had to be pushed in again. Need to double check with the vet as he said this was fine in which case is all really good news. Slight worry over the pin if she is left alone though. She seems to have stopped trying to pull it out, and so long as she is only out of the cage when we are with her should be ok …… could be a long month though!
In the meantime, Mori and Oscar are both showing more of an interest in her ….. as you can see:

25th June: Purring
Pin still causing us headaches as slipping further and further out, primarilt because she is now bouncing, jumping and generally being a lively little kittem which is a pure joy! She has a slightly dodgy stomach at the moment, possibly pain killers/antibiotics but remains in good spirits and is making herself very much at home!

25th June: With Mori
Mori has been a total star with every cat we have brought into the apartment, and has already taken Fleur under his wing paw

28th June: Good Weekend

Fleur has had a pretty good weekend. We stopped giving her the herbal medicine as we think it was making her sick. She has stopped being sick and her stomoach seems to be getting better as well. She has 2 more days on the pain killers and 4 on the antibiotics so after that hopefully her stomach will be fine.
The pin is still working lose as soon as she plays, and she wants to play more each day so is a bit of a problem, but not an issue! She is at the vet this morning just to double check that the pin is still doing it’s job.
In the mean time she has figured out that playing and being fed on the bed on the morning and last thing at night is pretty cool!
28th June: Vet Visit
Back from the vet and she is doing well! Had her stitches out, and he says the pin is fine and the leg is healing OK so ‘gold star’ for Little Fleur!
30th June: Playing
Well the good news is that she is full of energy, just wants to play and is getting on with Mori and Oscar, and even Saidi has nise tapped her a few times.
The not so good news is that the increased activity means the pin is moving out a lot more, and she seems to have picked up a small infection where the pin is. Will give her some cream and see how she goes, and take her back to Vet on Friday to see what he has to say.
She has now been introduced to the balcony and the roof as you can see, and seems to be approve!

1st July: Fixed
Well it had to happen, this afternoon her pin came out! Rang the vet who seemed pretty relaxed and said we could take her up tomorrow, but we felt that it was better to go straight up as no way woud she stay still until tomorrow, and …… vet says her leg is fixed!!!
Is still weak, and needs to be taken care of, so no jumping, but the pn is out and she is allowed to wander around ‘as normal’.
Given we were told 4 weeks, 11 days is nothing short of amazing. So proud of the little girl!
2nd July: Making Friends

The litle girl has been busy making friends all day! She has played with Oscar and Mori, with all 3 of them enjoying the tunnel, and she chased Oscar for a while which was very funny. She has nose tapped Saidi, but is smart enough to know that Saidi will determine if they are going to be friends or not and in her own time. She fell asleep on my chest this morning, has been curled up with Sands on the sofa all afternoon, and as you can see from the photo found time for a little kip with Mori as well.
3rd July: Lick From Mori
As you can see, Fleur is getting a lot of love and attention off Mori:
5th July: Stronger
Is amazing, and brilliant, just how much stronger, and confident, the little girl gets each day! She is already playing with Oscar and particularly Mori, and if you want to find her she is generally playing on the balcony, in the box and tunnel in Sands room, or having a kip on our bed.
