Over the years Malaga has grown to become one of Spain’s most popular cities for tourists to visit.

This is reflected by the large number of hotels, apartments and restaurants catering for tourists. But why is Malaga such a popular destination to visit, besides its beaches what else is there to do and see?

If you are visiting Malaga, on Spain’s south coast in Andalusia this year, then here is a list of things you shouldn’t miss. Don’t make your holiday a typical beach holiday, make it one to remember and get most out of your vacation to Malaga.

Take a bike tour

Bike tours in Malaga are a great way to enjoy the outdoors and discover the sights of Malaga. Ride around the city whilst learning about its history and visiting some of Malaga’s most important and La Concepcion Jardin Botanico-Historico de Malaga:historic buildings and monuments. These tours are not only relaxing, but a great way to meet people – ideal for people travelling alone. There is no need to worry about your fitness level as you will be taking it easy around the streets and group sizes are relatively small and you won’t get left behind.

Visit the museum of Glass and Crystal

Okay museums aren’t everyone’s favourite thing to do. However the Museo del Vidrio y Cristal de Malaga (Museum of Glass and Crystal) will not leave you disappointed. The museum is one of a kind in Andalusia and showcases a private collection of over 700 pieces of glass and crystal. Set inside an 18th century palace in the centre of Malaga, you will get a true sense of history with ceramic and glass décor to awe inspire you. This museum has received a nothing but good reviews and is well worth visiting.

Escape the sun and Visit the Jardin Botanico

You don’t have to be a keen gardener to appreciate this little garden hideaway. The garden has over 150 years of history and most importantly a wide range of plants. In fact over 50,000 plants are contained within these gardens and 2,000 of them are tropical by nature. You will find a wide variety of palm trees, water plants and also bamboo trees. This peaceful garden allows you to escape the hustle and bustle of Malaga and the plants and trees provide a nice shelter away from the sun. This is an ideal location to spend a hot sunny afternoon and if you like reading don’t forget to take a book.

Watch a bullfight

Though bull fights are not everyone’s tastes they are definitely an exciting way for tourist and locals to experience the traditional culture of Spain. If you plan your holiday to Malaga for August you will be able to enjoy the live music and colourful decorations that comes with one of Malaga’s famous bullfighting events, the Feria de Malaga. Besides bullfighting this festival will allow you to taste some of Spain’s traditional cuisine, listen to live music and watch traditional Flamenco dancing. Overall this will be many people’s highlights when visiting Malaga.

Here are just a few things that you shouldn’t miss in Malaga, there is much more to be discovered and many people find car hire in Malaga an excellent way to get to see everything. Read more about Malaga travel to help turn your beach holiday in Malaga into something much more.
