Los Marias

August 3rd, 2008 - Chris Marshall

Los Marias is the name of the new bar where La Bahia used to be in Dársena 1. It should be open in 2 or 3 weeks according to Nick the guy that owns the bar with his wife.

Another English bar, they are getting an American Pool Table so that they can enter a team into the local league (Nick is a former West Yorkshire finalist), and are looking for a darts league as well. As I understand it they will be serving a mix of English and Spanish food between 10am and 4pm, and then only Tapas in the afternoons and evenings.

As soon as the opening dates are known I will let you know as Nick has asked that we go along and cover the event which will include a Spanish band, free buffet and 2 for the price of one drinks all evening.

    Sounds Good.
I’ve just returned from Almerimar on Thursday, and hadn’t heard anything about it’s future plans.
I found your latest video very informative. We strolled down to La Barbera (El Barbero), only to find it closed one afternoon. I will give it another go when I am next there.
I found the place livelier than I had expected. I suspect the positive reputation of certain parts of the port is growing. Let’s hope so.
Al-Ruzz was a pleasant meal - first time there (but not the last). I enjoyed a few meals at La Varea, Paraiso, and the very busy Pizza place on the corner. I still haven’t managed to find a better spot for breakfast than Manolo’s (Rincon de la Pasta). The sun is in just the right place!.
Sea good to swim in, Roads good for running at night (the cooler air makes things tolerable), and all in all, probably the best time we have had since our visits started five years ago.
Sorry to be missing Creamfields. I don’t suppose that you would be able to catch any of the lights from the Chemical Brothers set? You will probably see them from the apartment!!!

    Suerte y Salud
    Paco.

Sounds like you had a great time, and that we missed each other again!!!!

I need to get out running again. Now things have settled down and bit I reckon I can start again.

I think the marina is pretty busy at the moment, the problem is that it could be busier (and needs to be) and for longer - best that can be said is that the season is 6 weeks long not 12 at the moment!!!
