Almerimar has 10 km of coastline known as Punta entias, a National Park made up of sand dunes and vegetation not accessible by road. The park being on the migratory route from Africa to Europe offers abundant wildlife. The public beaches areequipped with showers, toilets, waste bins and changing facilities. The beaches are regularly cleaned and have lifeguards in the summer season. Cinema Apart from the classic cinema, in summer films are shown outside in an open air theatre. In addition during the month of January, the Movie Week of El Ejido is celebrated, with high quality full length films, and complementary activities such as workshops, encounters with movie directors and book presentations. Almerimar has its riding school right next to the Nature Reserve of Punta Entinas. Here you can hire horses or ponies and go riding on the beack or the park. Classes are also available. Regattas are held throughout the year (3rd week of the month). The main events are; the Virgin del Carmen Regatta and Saint Joseph regatta passing by San José, Cabo de Gata. If you want to rwo it is possible on lave Victoria an artificial inland lake in the new tourist zone of la "Ensenada de San Miguel" Windsurfing Almerimar attracts many fans of this sport. It's champion Victor Fernandez is an El Ejido native - he started learning here at the age of 5. |
