Live (ish) Video Stream
April 25th, 2008 - Chris MarshallThe ‘eagle eyed’ amongst you may well have noticed that we have recently added a Streamed Video Feed to the site - check out the middle sidebar right down at the bottom.
This is a new service/application offered by Qik, and is currently an invitation only alpha product, which means it isn’t ready for public release, only a few invited people can try it out now, and we can expect a few teething problems.
The way it works is that I can use my Nokia N95 8GB phone to video stream ‘live’ to my Qik account, which in turn displays the stream directly on the site. So for example if I had had the service when we did the Treasure Hunt I could have streamed video of the event straight to the site.
At the moment I am just exploring how robust the technology is, and using the blog as a means of doing that is perfect. If it turns out as well as I anticipate then we have a really cool use for it all lined up that I think you will find interesting, useful and dare I say it impressive!!!
For now watch out for random clips of anything that captures my imagination as I try this out in detail. At the moment all there is to see is some footage of my desk and Moreno from when I was testing it out.
