Live From The Football

May 31st, 2008 - Chris Marshall

Updated Sat Night, Sun Morning & Mon Morning(Below) Right the plan with this post is to give you some live updates from the tournament today. The main way that we will do this is to use the Nokia N95 8GB running QIK to live stream video footage to the site which you can view below.

As the day progresses you will be able to see previous live streams here

Hopefully through a combination of the MacBook Pro and using the Nokia N95 8GB as a 3G Bluetooth modem we should be able to post some live updates as well, both in the post and on the twitter bar at the top of the site.

A lot depends on battery life (doubt will have access to power on the pitch!!), Sands ability to stay focussed on the video and camera when I am playing (which to be fair wont be for that long!!), and staying of the booze throughout the day!!!

Maybe see you down at the pitch, or if you can’t make it hopefully you enjoy the coverage!!!!

Update Saturday Night

We drew one, lost one - well to be honest we got hammered 7-0 in the second game BUT - I didn’t come on until it was 6-0!!! To say out tactics and team spirit imploded would be a understatement!!

A great day - Germany hammered in both games. Ecuador and Argentina both very impressive. Argentina came out on top and are still celebrating!!!!

Oh yes, for Alberto and Olivia the 20st Spanish did get past me on in the corner, but only after I had stolen the ball off him twice earlier!!!

A great day, well organised and excellent support.

Mathematically we still have a chance to qualify, and if we don’t we have been challenged to a 5 min each way match against the Germans before the final …

Another update and more video tomorrow.

Update Sunday Morning

Awake!!! Looks like a good morning. Legs stiff, but not as bad as I thought they would be pain wise! Off for a soak in the bath, some porridge, then to the ground for 9.30am.

I lost track of where we stood in the league yesterday, but I think that if we win this morning and score all our penalties then we go through regardless of how the other teams do in the group.

However truth be told even if we do scrape through we have no chance against either Argentina or Ecuador!!! We have agreed to play Germany in a ‘exhibition’ match before the final in the event we get knocked out this morning. Germany are already out.

Monday Morning

Nothing went to plan! We played at 10 am and lost 4-1 so that was the end of the tournament for us. Settled down to have a few beers and watch the football and wait to play Germany at 3 pm. Germ, any decided they wanted to play another day so we drank, and drank, and drank!!! Did watch some of the football and was surprised that Ecuador got knocked out so early, and that Spain beat Argentina in the final. It was a great match and I suppose the fact that the eventual winners came from our group should make us feel better!!!

Rather than head home went on to the D Bar to play table football (lost at the that) and then to Loch Ness to play Pool (lost at that as well). Picked up some chicken from the Asador but wasn’t really hungry so Saidi and Sands ate most of it.

This morning I ache all over!!! It was a great two days, well organised and excellent fun. We are going to continue as a team, well the majority are, but I reckon we all need at least two weeks to allow the muscles to recover.

All I can see is a cat, what sort of service is this?

  2. Chris Marshall Says:

To be fair a cat playing with shin pads :-)

Full service commences at kick off (3pm in Spain) but a pre match video will appear shortly!!

  3. Wayne LeFevre Says:

Absolutely freaked me out with this one! Had my browser open but minimized when suddenly this sound started coming out of the speakers! Thought our neighbors had some sort of crazy high powered ham radio that was interfering and crossing over into the system somehow. OK, not really, but I was wondering what was going on!

Sounds like you’re a little out of breath, Chris?

I think we need to give ourselves a couple of weeks to recover, then plan the game!!

My inclination is to look towards the end of the month, one evening say 7.30pm so we can play the game, then all get together and have a BBQ?
