Life In Spain - El Corte Inglés

October 22nd, 2007 - Sandra Marshall

Ok so I know that we girls all miss access to ‘decent’ shopping. I know for certain as, out of the few ‘Have Your Say’ articles that I have posted so far, it has come up twice! AND the only reason I didn´t mention it myself is that I go back to the UK at least twice a year and hit the outlet mall and TK Maxx with my sister among other things. Also I do have a slight soft spot for Mango, Zara and the jeans shop Stradivarius in El Ejido.

Anyway I guess we are all looking forward to the opening of El Corte Inglés in El Ejido, but to temper everyone´s excitement, I found an interesting article on one of my regular blogs. Apparently El Corte Inglés is not as fantastic as we might hope. What was particularly interesting was that, although this is one person´s viewpoint, there are already 3 ‘comments’ to the post agreeing with her.

“Welcome to the Corte Inglés, where you can expect to pay anything up to 30 percent over the odds for everything. This might be redeemed by the convenience factor, if it weren’t for the sometimes surreal levels of rudeness achieved by its staff.”

AND if you have any personal experiences of this store (good or bad), I would love to hear them. Do you agree with this bad press or is El Corte Inglés getting a tough break?
