Workers Not Happy At Hospital de Poniente (El Ejido)

November 16th, 2009 - Chris Marshall

You can never accuse the Spanish of hiding their feelings, as the management at the Hospital de Poniente in El Ejido have just found out!

In a no holes spared blast at the “authoritarian attitude” of the leaders the workers claim:

  1. their is no respect for the workers or their representatives, and only issues that the management want discusses make it to the agenda
  2. the management are wasting money on reforms internally, leaving fewer staff to look after the patients. All this has implications for an increased workload with which health care quality is diminished, and waiting times lengthen, such as: emergency, consultations, surgeries, etc. ..
  3. not enough care is being taken to protect pregnant workers against risks of infection etc

The workers are seeking improved communications and a better working relationship.
