Milan 2 Liverpool 1
May 24th, 2007 - Chris MarshallSpent last night in Al-rruz watching as Milan beat Liverpool. Liverpool is a very popular team here in Spain, largely because of the current manager and crop of Spanish players but the impression I get is that they have always been popular.
Sands is a Liverpool ‘fan’ more by association (she grew up very close to Liverpool) than through any burning passion for the game. Watching football in a Spanish bar is a LOT different than my experiences of watching it in an English bar. If an English bar is all about predominantly men standing around drinking pints and shouting intently at the TV then a Spanish bar is about groups (male and female) sitting around eating tapas or raciones, talking and from time to time shouting some form of ‘encouragmement’ at the TV. I think both are equally as passionate, but the Spanish tend to have more extreme ‘peaks and troughs’.
Anyway although Liverpool lost I won the bottle of wine for correctly guessing the score!

Enjoying the match.
