Interesting reading in The Reader that 71% of the recent forest fires were in Almeria.

They claim that of the 12.118 hectacres burnt in Andalucia in 2009, 8.571 was burnt in Almeria. Of the 6 big fires i.e. over 500 hectacres in Andalucia 4 were in Almeria:

Nijar in June (1086 hectacres)
Sorbas in June (510 hectacres)
Two in the Cabreras above Turre and Mojacar of 4308 and 2258 hecacres
