Gimnasio Sun Sport - Power Dumbel
November 21st, 2007 - Sandra MarshallFurther to my previous article, I thought I’d let you know how I got on in the Power Dumbel class!
I definitely exercised my arms and they are aching pleasantly today as there was a good weights section, BUT first we did do over 30 mins of cardio using The Step! It seems that not only is a step involved in most of the classes but also cardio. I’m not saying this is necessarily a bad thing but when it comes to a class called Power Dumbel I would expect, and I think like, it to be mostly weights, after a short warm-up.
Having said that I did thoroughly enjoy it. The instructor was the owner of the gym and she is extremely enthusiastic, funny and tough! I am aching today in various places that running does not reach, which always makes me feel like I have achieved something in the ‘no pain - no gain’ way. It also inspired me to up my fitness levels again. It is easy to kid yourself you are doing ok if you just stick to repeating the same activity, but I actually didn´t feel so fit yesterday afternoon doing squats, lunges and high kicks which my poor legs had had a nice holiday from!
It was also interesting how much harder even basic sit-ups are when you are lying on a step … something to do with the position of your legs. See the step stayed with us for the whole class!
As for the step routine itself, I am pleased to say it was pretty simple, and apart from right at the end, I did master most of it so maybe there is hope! I even got a couple of thumbs up from the instructor!
Gimnasio Sun Sport definitely gets my vote on this and past experiences. It is local, friendly, reasonably priced and offers enough to anyone who doesn’t want to travel to one of the bigger gyms around. I think the only group who miss out are slightly older people who need move gentle stretching and lower impact exercise as they are not really catered for.
Today it’s Saco / G.A.P. so watch this space!
