Getting a car insured
January 3rd, 2008 - Chris MarshallThe legal processes involved in buying and insuring a car in Spain are covered in the book about the law in Spain
Basically you need to take a copy of your property rental agreement (if you are renting) or title deeds (escritura - if you own property) along with your NIE number and/or passport AND AT LEAST 2 PHOTOCOPIES OF YOUR PASSPORT/NIE CERTIFICATE to the town hall in El Ejido. Park your car in the underground car park underneath the town hall square. You get there by turning left at the roundabout described above and ducking in to the underground car park on the right of the main street through El Ejido. Walk upstairs from the car park and head to the town hall (ayuntamiento). Turn right as you go in and present your paperwork at the desk on your right and ask for a certificate of residence.
