Fostering Oscar

March 9th, 2009 - Chris Marshall

Sands turned up with Little Oscar on February 28th. He was originally rescued from the marina where he was drowning by Nick & Dawn who are regular fosterers on Almerimar Life Strays. The plan was for them to foster the little chap for a couple of months until he went to Germany.

They had to go back to the UK at short notice at the end of the month so Sands brought him back for a couple of nights until she could find another fosterer for him ……

Well Mori basically adored him from day one and somewhat surprisingly Saidi didn’t hate him, and over the last couple of days you would almost think she liked him, well if not liked at least tolerates.

As anyone that followers me on Twitter will know or who has seen any of the Twitpics he has taken up a lot of my time recently, and has turned out to be a real character!

We are not sure if we will keep him long term, as we didn’t plan a third cat, especially after the sad experience with Orla, but he is adorable and Mori in particular loves having a mate to play with. For now we have added him to the blog we maintain for the cats Morenos World, set him up his own photo gallery, and added him to our favourite cat photos gallery as whatever happens we will always want to have access to these great photos and videos.

For now though here are some videos and photos that we have taken recently:

That image just breaks my heart!!! I am so glad that you guys there have a rescue group and that two people happened along at the right time.
Oscar is just delightful and he’s a beautiful boy!
I really enjoyed the photos and video.

    Thanks.

Sands and her friends do a great job with the strays in Almerimar.

Both Moreno and Saidi are rescue cats as well, and have made a huge difference to our lives!

I have watched the videos posted by Sands and Chris of
Oscar and his new friends, Sadie and Morie look such
upper class cats as opposed to Oscar. Only I am allowed to say that, having rescued him from the sea. Thankyou so much for enabling me to see Oscar, he looks so happy,
with his new friends, he is certainly a character and
even the most high born of ladies like a ‘bit of rough’ and even a toy boy now and again! so hopefully Oscar will be desired by his feline companions and may stay in his new home.

All seems to be going well with me, thanks to wisdom from
PAM, waiting on results of test but feeling very confident
I will return to Almerimar soon, LOTS to tell the Ladies
who meet on Wednesday’s at 4.00pm.

Great you and Nick have seen the photos … he is VERY much at home. He is fine here with us at least until the April transport to Germany, but I think we will probably keep him, if things continue to go well with our 2. Mori loves him and Saidi is coming round to the idea, AND although they look very grand our cats were both street urchins as well.
Anyway very pleased you are feeling well and we all (including Oscar) looking forward to seeing you back here soon. We have just rescued a ginger kitten who may be waiting for you when you get back.

Glad you enjoyed them!! Oscar and Mori have just been fighting on and under the bed for about an hour. I had to get up in the end as I was laughing so much at them I was in danger of wetting the bed :-)

Mori is amazing, like a very indulgent Uncle, and Saidi actually played a little before heading up to the roof after Oscar bit her tail!
