April 8th, 2008 - Sandra MarshallA friend was only commenting today that for a small town El Ejido seems to have a lot going on and this weekend is no exception, as we have the second annual horse show. This is taking place on a special tented concourse opposite and close to the site of the Wednesday market. Basically you need to turn left by the new swimming pool following the sign to the Mercadillo and you can’t miss it!
The event runs from Thursday to Sunday and opens at 9.30 every morning with exhibition stands to look at all day. At 9.30 am and 5pm there is ‘concurso morfologico’ which we think is our understanding of a dog show for horses, with prizes.
The big events then seem to be in the evenings with an equestrian display at 9pm on Thursday, a flamenco fashion show by Andalucian designers at 21.30 on Friday, and the equestrian spectacular “La Leyenda De Java” at 10pm on Saturday and 6pm on Sunday.
To go to any of the event, apart from the spectaculars, you pay 4 euros at the door. Tickets for “La Leyenda De Java” are 10 euros from UniTicket: 902 360 295 (www.unicaja.es) or for us probably more easily from Copo.
Sounds interesting and I have to agree that overall we are pretty lucky here in Almerimar if we take advantage of everything there is to do here and in the surrounding towns.
