Yesterday I ventured down to watch the rugby, and endured a very poor game that El Ejido eventually won 19 - 11. On paper they should have won this game easily, and I think that showed in the way that they approached the game.

To be honest I was really disappointed with how poorly the boys played; the last time I saw them I thought they had made good progress, but they played yesterday like total novices. The passing was particularly poor, and they seemed very disjointed. Overall they don’t tackle well - for pretty big guys they shy away from the tough aspects of the game.

Still that is played 4 won 3 and lost 1 so the spirit after the game was as good as ever, and the BBQ, beers and whiskey helped keep the cold out.

They prefer to play on a Saturday but I much prefer when they play on a Sunday morning - seems though that as they like to go out until the early hours on a Saturday night they are too hungover on the Sunday to play. That probably says all that needs to be said to be honest - they need to apply themselves more as a unit if they are going to play any better.
