The main benefits are lower property prices, we need less clothing and heating, have more sunshine, fresher food and generally enjoy a better quality of life. Except, of course, for those who come here just, for the cheap booze and fags. But they probably eat and drink more than they should and will die younger but that´s their choice. From the beginning of time all economies have gone up and down and we should remember that sooner or later the present problems will be over.
