Another Foro F*** Up!!!!
December 1st, 2008 - Chris MarshallWe recently received the details of the Christmas Market from the Foro that we mentioned before
We have decided not to promote these details for a number of reasons:
- We do not agree that they should be charging for the stalls. If they were free we feel that more people would attend, which would have more benefit for the businesses. By charging it seems that the Foro are more interested in making money than helping the local community. Now it isn’t our place to ‘play God’ but as a personal blog we are entitled to our opinion and talking the bars and restaurants in the Square not one expressed agreement with the 20€ charge!
- The information we received did not identify ALL the businesses in the location of the market which we think is TOTALLY unfair and unprofessional. The Foro is meant to represent all the businesses in Almerimar and if their PR can’t be bothered to give them all equal coverage then why should we bother to either correct their mistake or just republish without considering the other businesses?
- Given that they wanted to charge they were not prepared to offer a free stand to sell the books and DVD’s for Almerimar Strays despite the fact that they wanted to use this site to promote the event for free.
- Oh yes, the organiser Vivien Morris took the opportunity when she emailed the information to ask us to promote some items that she wanted to sell for free. I think this is a) an abuse of her position and b) hypocritical. She wanted something free for both her and the Foro yet wouldn’t provide us with a free stand to help with the Strays. For me this is a huge mistake!!! To assume that we will publish information for free is a BIG mistake. This is our personal blog. Sure we publish stuff from time to time, but generally for readers and friends ….. that is the way of life. Vivien doesn’t even read the blog and had to ask someone we know for our email address despite having Sands phone number. Sorry but that is just not the way to operate as far as we are concerned.
I think this is pretty much the final nail in the coffin as far as we are concerned with the Foro!!! Vivien has made a real mess of this as far as we are concerned. We have tried to let them use the blog to promote things but to be honest their handling of this is just not acceptable.
