Congrats Hull City - Premiership Week 1

August 17th, 2008 - Chris Marshall

So the season is up and running with a impressive performance from Chelsea beating a very lack luster looking Portsmouth. I still can’t excited about watching Chelsea I am afraid, but have to admire their capabilities. IF they continue to play like this I may even start to enjoy watching them!!!

As for Man Utd that was a typical stuttering start. I wasn’t that convinced by them last season (I am a fan) as they seemed to play some great football but too many times ‘just did enough’. That said the difference with Chelsea (yet more big names brought in) and all the new (young ) faces at Utd really shows the difference in attitude. That said, I would keep my money and give Frazier Campbell a run this season as I think he is as good (potentially) as anyone they are talking about bringing in. As fopr Newcastle they seemed very efficient and well organised with some good new signings

But all that is secondary to the fact that Hull City beat Fulham!!! After a 104 year wait it must have been an amazing day. Good luck Tigers, will be following you closely all season. Shame Stoke City couldn’t follow their lead, but you can’t have it all as they say!!!

Finally, the ‘Respect’ policy seemed to be respected in the games that I watched. I hope it works as watching football in recent years really has been spoilt by the attitude of the players.

How did your side do? How do you feel about the new season?
