Chinese & Coco Beach

Sands & “The Girls”
Last night the girls wanted to take us for a meal. Laura is a vegetarian which is a challenge here in Almerimar, especially as she doesn’t eat Fish or Chicken i.e. she actually is a Vegetarian. Given the Spanish love affair with their food, getting a meal that isn’t comprised of Fish, Chicken or Meat is a pretty fruitless exercise, and a pretty pointless exercise in their view!! Pizza or Chinese where the best options, and as Stephanie has hollow legs and can eat for both of them they settled on the Wok Buffet Shanghai. The meal is slightly more expensive at 8,85€ (I think - they paid) than it used to be, but still excellent value if you want to eat a lot, and a lot better than it was last time when the curry sauce in particular was horrible.
As it was reasonably busy we benefitted from fresh sesame prawn toast, prawn crackers and deep fried prawns served at the table as a starter, and the crispy duck was very good. The rest of the starters where possibly a little warmer than before, but they are still pretty insipid at best.
The main course was excellent, I went with the Picante sauce (as did Sands), Laura went with the Sweet & Sour, and Stephanie with the Black Bean and then the Oyster (told you she had hollow legs)
Lychees to end and then off for a walk down the beach to the Coco Beach bar. Unfortunately we missed the other Laura (daughter of regular reader Tina) as by the time we texted her back to say we were on the way, they had given up on us and left - so sorry about that, maybe Saturday???
The bar was quiet but is starting to take shape and the frozen fruits that we got with the drinks (5€ for a Spirit and a mixer) where really good. Very innovative, and extremely refreshing - and of course healthy. We stayed for a couple of hours, enjoyed the Everything Fire show (apologies but the video isn’t the best I have ever taken), and can vouch for the fact that it looks a lot easier than it is - ask Shannon as she was practicing with the coloured balls/lights that they use to train, and it has to be said looking pretty good, so who knows maybe a change of career on the cards for Shannon!!!!
Horacio treated me to a Vodka Mimosa with a LOT of lime that was really really good, so thanks for that!!
A pleasant walk back along the beach, and as soon as we got home the girls where straight onto Facebook (you can add me is you want as I have a feeling I will be using it a bit more in the future!!). They live on Facebook it has to be said!
Today they are in El Ejido with Sands - Saturday I think we are going to do the Medieval Market, go and listen to the music at Coco Beach for a while and then hit the music bars - if they can keep up as they seem pretty light weight for Students!!!!!
