Childhood Memories - Football in Almerimar

May 14th, 2008 - Chris Marshall

I have just done something that has brought back memories of my childhood ……. bought new football boots and a football.

Well I guess to be totally honest as a child I used to pester let my parents have that pleasure, but all the same I felt that same childish thrill at picking them out and trying them on. They are for indoor/astro turf so no studs and they are far brighter colour than I would have preferred - you know they don’t do plain black boots anymore!!!! On the plus side they are wipe clean so no dubbing required (remember that) or cleaning them 5 days after a game and wishing I had done it straight after.

To make things even better I bought some new shin guards and a very trendy looking football, which as you will see from the video clip in the sidebar Mori has already had a play with!

So tonight I will be sitting on the sofa, wearing my new boots and shin guards, juggling my new football while I watch my boyhood team (Hull City) try and progress to the play off final and subsequently get into the ‘top division’ for the first time in their history. I mention this so that in the event that I die of excitement and am subsequently found dressed in my boots and shin pads, playing with my ball, surrounded by two cats with my wife away you know it wasn’t some perverse experiment!!!
