Champions League

March 31st, 2008 - Chris Marshall

Interesting week regards the Champions League. I am a Man Utd fan so not caught up in the UK team struggle, but Sands supports Liverpool and our next door neighbour supports Arsenal, so Wednesday could be interesting. Am tempted to wander down into the marina on Wednesday night to watch the Arsenal v Liverpool game, but am not that big a fan of watching sport in bars, and am meant to be having a healthy week.

What are your plans, and who you supporting?

About Almerimar

Almerimar is located in the region of Andalucia, Spain. The nearest airport is 30km away in Almeria. Other airports that are within 3 hours include Malaga, Murcia, Granada, and Alicanti. Other holiday resorts in the region include Mojacar , Aguadulce and Roquetas de Mar

Almerimar is a great place to live as an expat amongst the expats, or to work amongst the Spanish. There are all kinds of properties including villas, apartments and town houses for rent or sale. It is a very traditional part of Spain, with traditional Spanish foods so if you plan to travel to Spain either to look for jobs, for your company to trade with companies in Spain, or to learn Spanish and enjoy the Spanish weather then come and take a look.

Good luck to the RAFALUTION. Hopefully after disposing of a struggling arsenal on Wednesday, the draw can be kind and pitch the Reds against the red devils. I think a spot of revenge is due at the theatre of screams.

    Yo estoy esperando!

  2. Chris Marshall Says:

Well I hope you beat Arsenal, but I hope anybody beats Arsenal. That is very brave talk wanting to take the Reds on again :-)

  3. Chris Marshall Says:

    2-0 :-)

    Good luck tomorrow Liverpool!!!!

1/2 watched the game on the sofa after a somewhat boozy lunch!!

  4. Chris Marshall Says:

Well done Liverpool - not attractive but a good result none the less :-)

  5. Chris Marshall Says:

OK, just seen the highlights of the Chelsea game - what an AMAZING winner!!!

  6. Chris Marshall Says:

Missed the game but well done Liverpool (2nd leg). Will be in the air tomorrow night for the Man Utd game, but fingers crossed - could be tough with all the injuries!

  7. Chris Marshall Says:

So Liverpool v Chelsea (again) and Man Utd v Barcelona. Fingers crossed for a Liverpool v Man Utd final but I have a horrible feeling it could be Chelsea v Barcelona this year.

  8. Francis Says:

It is a big week of football. I hope that we can put the pensioners to bed on Tuesday night. A Liverpool v man u final is a distinct possibility.

Praise is also due to Almería, who edged closer to a European place with a 1-4 win away to Sevilla.
Even Poli Ejido managed a win!

    Viva los Almerienses!

  9. Chris Marshall Says:

Will be back just in time to watch the games this week :-)

    Fingers crossed eh :-)

  10. Chris Marshall Says:

Ouch, that was a tough goal to give away at the end!!!!

  11. Francis Says:

I agree that it was difficult to accept such a late equaliser. However, Chealsea didn’t look comfortable.
It was a notable draw for man u tonight. All to play for.

Liverpool v Man u final? Don’t bet against it.

    Mucha Suerte.

  12. Chris Marshall Says:

I would be very happy with that as a Final. Only glimpsed parts of the MU game as was outside Al-rruz eating with friends. Not the best bit of planning in the world!!!!

  13. Alex Adamson-Leigh Says:

Just noticed Francis´s comments about Championship Final and Almeria´s success. My money is on Barcelona -v-Chelsea in Moscow but Almeria certainly have done well this season in La Ligna. I watched them beat Real Madrid earlier in the year so am not surprised when they smothered Seville. A lovely side to watch and we are indeed fortunate living so close to a DIV.1 team. This is their first time at this level and they seem very comfortable. Next to the Premiership La Ligna is almost as good to watch. Well done the Spannish we´re rooting for you!!!! Of course that´s because the “Gunners” already got knocked out. Shame!!!!

  14. Chris Marshall Says:

Have to admit that is a likely final :-( If it was I would have to support Barcelona!!!

I have meant to go to Almeria several times tis year but have been away for all the ‘big’ matches ….. maybe we should get organised for next year and have a ‘blog outing’ to one of the games?

  15. Francis Says:

Well, I have booked off the Thursday and Friday of Champions League Final week, so I hope that my confidence is not misplaced.
Be it man u, or the mighty Barca, the history and achievement of Liverpool will cause doubt in even the strongest team.
We also seem to have the most in form striker in Europe.
    Venga ‘el nino’!

  16. Chris Marshall Says:

Liverpool are a good cup side, and Torres is as good as any striker at the moment I guess.

I wish you luck against Chelsea. Barcelona v Liverpool would be a tough one for me! I guess I would just go with Liverpool as Sands supports them :-) And you of course!!!!!

  17. Francis Says:

Just waiting for the game to start.
Best of luck to both sides. May both sets of supporters act graciously, whatever the result.

    suerte.

ps. Whoever wins, See you in Moscow!

  18. Chris Marshall Says:

Amazing defending by Utd, and a bit of bad luck for Liverpool. Two good semi-finals though!!!

    Come in the Reds :-)

  19. Alex Adamson-Leigh Says:

Now the fun starts! Chelsea´s thrashing of Liverpool means that over 45,000 fans will be trying to get to Moscow later this month. With Visas at over €100, airflights at around €450 and hotels at least €200 it´s an expensive trip. The worst problem I suspect is that the Russians will have to process over 40,000 visa applications that normally take 6 weeks each. I hope both clubs have properly addressed these issues. I suspect that many will be disappointed some suffering from the “blues” and others returning with “red” faces. Good luck to both teams but on present form my roubles are on Chelsea. The last time I was in Moscow I stayed at the largest hotel with over 2,000 rooms and an armed KGB officers sitting at the end of each corridor. We were followed everywhere but with some thawing in the cold war things may have changed???

  20. Chris Marshall Says:

    Call that fun??

I am trying to figure of it is worth going to watch it down in the marina? I suppose I will make my mind up on the night as usual!

I don’t tend to watch sport with anyone else - if the game is boring I like to go and do something else, and if my team lose I resent having spent money in a bar watching them lose :-(

  21. Chris Marshall Says:

Here you go a plan opf sorts!!!!

  22. Francis Says:

My best wishes go to the supporters of both chealsea and man u. I’m not sure ‘trashing of Liverpool’ is quite the phrase that I would have used, but I understand how reaching a unknown position can give fans a little light headedness.

Enjoy the game. I hope it is a good advertisement for English football. Whoever wins, make the most of it. I know it isn’t very often that either team have been in this priveleged position. But take my word for it, We liverpool fans can recommend the emotions you will go through.

    Mucha suerte.

  23. Chris Marshall Says:

Nah, that wasn’t a trashing at all. A good game in a way but could have gone either way.

Money is Man Utd to do the double of the girls from Chelsea though - Drogba is such a baby!!!! And Ashley Cole is a big girls blouse!!!

Now then if you want to gloat (which you can over the European Cup) let’s start looking at Premiership Titles :-)
