Centro De Estética
January 21st, 2008 - Sandra MarshallToday I decided to try out the newest beautician’s (centro de estética), here in Almerimar. I had been in before to ask about a treatment list (which incidently they don’t have), and had admired the rather classy reception area with leather couch and flowers. I’ve also been having problems with eyelash tint irritating my eyes over here, so was keen to try somewhere else, with hopefully different products.
The lady who runs (and I think owns) it, Pilar Ortega, is very pleasant and slightly more mature than most beauticians, however she speaks no English at all so if you want to try this beauticians be prepared to look up the necessary Spanish words and don’t expect any chat while you have your treatment.
Overall I was impressed. The set-up is very clean and beautifully decorated, and there is a very snazzy room for body treatments with an incredibly technical looking couch affair. I was in a smaller room at the back as I was only having my eyes done. The pricing seemed slightly more than I was used to, but Pilar was very thorough and took longer over the treatment, so I wasn’t concerned. I checked on the price of a pedicure, which I will try next, which was 25€ and seemed about right.
I got the impression that the lack of a treatment list was due to the very large array of options, as the price list she referred to seemed extensive, and there were a number of product brands laid out on the shelves.
My only slightly negative comment was the fact that Pilar appeared to be there alone. The door is locked with a buzzer for access. This meant that during my eyelash tint and brow shape, she went out several times to answer the phone and let people in to book appointments. This wasn’t an issue with my treatment today as it has natural breaks and is not exactly meant to be relaxing. However I do wonder how this would work if I opted for a longer relaxing facial or body treatment. Maybe the fact it was Monday and possibly a quiet day was the reason for no additional staff. Without more Spanish, I couldn’t ask further questions.
So in summary, it is definitely worth a try, particularly if you want different options for facials, or to try and technical body treatments. This beauticians is definitely more up-market having been specially designed with the latest equipment, as opposed to being set up within a hair salon.
