I’m still loving the Olympics and Team GB are doing brilliantly. The coverage for me has been excellent. I watch the bits I want from the Olympics Breakfast show by wizzing through my Sky+ recording and then the athletics coincides nicely with my afternoon siesta time, AND if I have missed anything there is always the evening round-up. Great and all this sport has been getting me through 2 of the hottest weeks of summer.

I am off to the UK today for a meeting. I will be catching the 1015 flight out of Almeria that gets into Gatwick at 1200. I have a meeting in the Sofitel hotel, and will stay there over night before catching the 0555 flight back, which gets me into Almeria at 0925.
I wont really have too much time to spare but if you are on either of the flights, staying at the Sofitel, or around Gatwick then maybe we will bump into each other and be able to grab a coffee or something.
18 hours in the UK is just about enough in my book!!!!

So the season is up and running with a impressive performance from Chelsea beating a very lack luster looking Portsmouth. I still can’t excited about watching Chelsea I am afraid, but have to admire their capabilities. IF they continue to play like this I may even start to enjoy watching them!!!
As for Man Utd that was a typical stuttering start. I wasn’t that convinced by them last season (I am a fan) as they seemed to play some great football but too many times ‘just did enough’. That said the difference with Chelsea (yet more big names brought in) and all the new (young ) faces at Utd really shows the difference in attitude. That said, I would keep my money and give Frazier Campbell a run this season as I think he is as good (potentially) as anyone they are talking about bringing in. As fopr Newcastle they seemed very efficient and well organised with some good new signings
But all that is secondary to the fact that Hull City beat Fulham!!! After a 104 year wait it must have been an amazing day. Good luck Tigers, will be following you closely all season. Shame Stoke City couldn’t follow their lead, but you can’t have it all as they say!!!
Finally, the ‘Respect’ policy seemed to be respected in the games that I watched. I hope it works as watching football in recent years really has been spoilt by the attitude of the players.
How did your side do? How do you feel about the new season?

I didn’t think I was that interested this time round, and in fact I was struggling to even remember who our medal hopes were, but last Sunday the Olympics grabbed my interest. In the past I have followed athletics much more keenly and even used to go to meetings at Crystal Palace when I lived and worked in London, but this wasn’t even what grabbed my interest as nothing was yet happening in the ‘Bird’s Nest’ stadium last weekend. It was Michael Phelps, the enthusiasm of the BBC presenters and for me slightly weird sports like archery (loved the funny hats), cycling and even badminton and or course then the British swimming phenomenon Jo Adlington, gymnastics and the rowing which always gets me really emotional!

The photograph, which appeared in sports daily Marca, saw the smiling players standing on a court pulling down the skin at the sides of their eyes to make them appear slanted.
It caused international condemnation and followed a string of racially-charged incidents that have marred the reputation of Spanish sport.

The number of spam messages received in the UK has quadrupled over the past three months. On average 30,846 spam emails per user was blocked in the second quarter of the year compared to just 8,156 spam emails per user in Q1.
“Spamming is now done by organized crime using local gangs who know how to target customers and how to make their spam look legitimate. The type of emails are now more dangerous. There are now more fraud emails rather than just spam offering you Viagra.” Dan Field, ClearlyMyMail.
But from time to time justice is served:

Just about to sit down to watch Liverpool in the Champions League!! Seem mad to me, that they are starting a competition that is worth so much money to the teams before the season has actually started. That is what it is all about now though ………… money!!!

I am not a big fan of the Olympics (although I like the fact that I played Hockey in the same team as an Olympic gold medal winner) and very rarely watch it. I am certainly not a particularly ‘political’ guy either, but I do tend to feel that giving the 2008 Olympics to China was a huge error. I was however intrigued by the above picture, as I (naively it now seems) thought there was actually just ‘a’ Olympic Torch that got used every four years!! Shows how much attention I pay to the Olympics then!! You can see a bigger image here
