It is a little chilly here in Almerimar today, not least because there is a fair amount of snow up on the mountains and with the strong wind blowing in from the West it is carrying the chill of the snow over Almerimar.

Was looking out the window the other day as you do thinking as ever what a great view it was, when my eye was drawn to this oil platform being towed across the horizon. Now if only I had something more powerful than a 135-400mm zoom I would have been able to get a closer picture!

Vicar market is only about 20 mins from Almerimar and takes place on Sunday mornings (we think the first 3 Sundays of the month). It is one market that I haven’t got around to going to yet, so thank you to John for this insight:

Yesterday a friend and I took a walk down to the port for a coffee and to check out the Gastronomic event. I have to admit to being a little confused as to exactly what I was going to as, apart from a very pleasant picture of some cooked vegetables, the poster didn’t give much away!

Just back from a very pleasant girlie lunch @ Al-rruz, which opened again yesterday after its owners’ yearly holiday.

Windy weather again so we sat inside and chilled out with some big glasses of red wine! Normally when we have lunch at Al-ruz we go for a salad and some racciones, and today Ines recommended the garlic mushrooms, but we were in a ‘big eat’ mood, which is an expression one of my old US friends uses. We ended up ordering a mixed paella for 2 which really hit the spot. I complemented Jaun Carlos and said I was pleased he hadn’t forgotten how to cook!
