Bread Bowls

January 7th, 2008 - Sandra Marshall

Ok this is just a fun article that I picked up today. I wonder if something like this could catch on with the Spanish here in Almerimar? It would certainly save on washing up! “A Birmingham food firm has started making bowls and plates out of dough. The idea is that diners enjoy a soup, chilli or curry, then eat the bowl too.”

Actually I have to say that I know of at least one big soup and sandwich chain in the US (The Atlanta Bread Company) that has been serving onion soup in bread bowls for years, SO it isn’t the most original idea, but curry in a naan bread bowl is kind of neat if potentially a little soggy! On a more local note, La Plaza (in The Square) serves its sausage & mash in a large Yorkshire Pudding, highly recommended.
