Birthday Chinese

April 6th, 2008 - Sandra Marshall

Great lunch yesterday at the Hong Kong for Big Chris’s birthday; lots of wine, laughs and good food. I like the Hong Kong as we’ve been there lots of times and I know pretty much what I’m going to get. As there were 10 of us we started off with a BIG plate of mixed starters including crispy prawns, won ton etc. and some dim sum with very spicy chilli sauce! Two plates of crispy duck then followed as the first was not enough. We finally finished off with rice, noodles and various main dishes, my choice being prawns in salsa picante. I enjoyed it all, although my prawns were not quite as spicy as usual. For me though the jury is still a little out as to whether i prefer the Hong Kong or the Shanghai Buffet owned by the same people. Of course the service is better in the main restaurant, and the food arrives hot and freshly cooked, which cannot be said for the starters at the buffet. However as a confirmed veggie lover, I really like being able to select what I want in my stir fry at the buffet restaurant, AND I can still have crispy duck served at my table. Anyway yesterday’s lunch was great fun. Pity I had to leave before the after lunch drinks, but I had an appointment at the cat rescue home. More on that later …

You missed Wayne and I giving Mike and Lisa a hammering at pool - which really means that Wayne played really well :-)
