Asador - Takeaway

March 28th, 2008 - Sandra Marshall

Spent the morning in El Ejido, rushing around sorting final things for the Treasure Hunt, and with nothing much in the house to eat, and feeling hungry we decided to stop off for a chicken takeaway at the Asador.

This is a great little restaurant run by a very friendly husband and wife, where we have been going for years, and I can particularly recommend their Menu del Día and the takeaway menu below:

Pollo Asado 8€
1/2 Pollo Asador 4.8€
Costillas de Cerdo 5.80€
Chuletas de Cerdo 5.5€
1/2 Conejo a la Brasa 7.20€
Pulpo a la Gallega 7.50€
Ensaladillo Rusa 4.80€
Calamares Fritos 7.50€
Croquetas Caseras 5.80€
Espagnetti Boloñesa 4.80€
Canelones 4.50€
Patatas Fritas (Ración) 2.20€
Patatas Asadas (unidad) 1.20€
Ensalada de la Casa 3.90€

Below are a few translations of the meats to help you chose:

Pollo - Chicken (their speciality); Costillas - cutlets; Cerdo - Pork; Chuletas - ribs; Cordero - Lamb; Conejo - Rabbit; Pulpo - Octopus

AND if you want to phone ahead so that your food is ready for you their telephone number is: 950 49 78 64, OR you can sit and have a drink at the bar while you wait (which is Chris’s preference) and enjoy one of their very good little baked potatoes as tapas to stave off your hunger!

Ever tried the rabbit from Asador? It was given a go by my son, at El rincon de Ted. It wasn’t bad. Service…..apathetic.
Still, we go out primarily to eat.
Wok Buffet (nearer the church) was tried last week. It wasn’t bad. We left full and content. Service more than adequate.
The square, Algarbe and La Bahía, is my perfect daytime spot. Just the right mix of food to choose from.
Does Las Uvas ever get any customers? Is there a reason for it never being busy?
If You have any reports on the tapas, let us know. The jefe seemed to look perplxed.

    Tengeís un beun día.

The rabbit, steak, chopes - everything is good at Asador, with great service and very friendly owners.

    well worth a visit.

Las Uvas has only just reopened with new owners. It used to do really well, but the landlord wanted more rent.

I think they are probably just settling in and people may not know they are open again.

I haven’t been in since it has re opened, but the tapas before was great, which doesn’t help you at all really!!!

Will let you know when I have given it a try.
