Another Friend Leaving Almerimar
October 30th, 2008 - Chris Marshall5 years ago when we were traveling a lot between Florida and Almerimar there were a group of 4 couples of around our age that we started to hang out with. Early next week Jackie will be leaving Almerimar (with boyfriend Leo) to set up home just south of Barcelona. She will be the last of the 8 to have left Almerimar, which is sad and sobering at the same time ………
One (of several) reasons that they are eaving is that the Piramide just didn’t work and is closing down ….. am sure you have seen that they are selling everything off on Saturday 1st between 12 and 4pm. As they had invested heavily in flat screen TV’s, Wii’s, Playstations and other games there should be some good deals to be had. Lisa (676 13 09 24) will be able to tell you more.
Lots of rumours as to why the Piramide is closing, but the long and the short of is is that they didn’t get the grants that they had been promised from the council. Seems like the owners of the hotel (which isn’t even been re built at the moment) really want the land for car parking rather than let the kids have somewhere to play.
Anyway, good luck to Jackie & Leo, and got to feel sorry for Lisa who put so much effort and money into trying to make the Piramide work
