Almerimar Strays Update
April 1st, 2008 - Sandra MarshallI thought it was time for a quick update, so that everyone knew what the plan was following the very successful fund-raising.
We have 1200€ which is fantastic, but as anyone who has been to a vet recently knows, if we are not very prudent this will not help many animals, and I think we should try and keep a little money for an emergency. I will be coordinating the fund, and my first task is to talk to as many vets and other options as possible to get the best price deal.
We have this morning ‘mystery shopped’ a vet in Santo Domingo, and this afternoon I am hoping to have more details of a cat sanctuary. We are also contacting the dog sanctuary to confirm the situation after their recent virus problems, and whether they are able to take more animals yet.
I am hoping to have more information and a way forward early next week, when I will be able to start deciding which animals are priorities. I am already talking to Pam @ The Bahia, I have 4 kittens in Calle Alcor, and I know of a number of other individual cats and dogs that could do with help.
