A Very Wet Almerimar
May 9th, 2008 - Chris MarshallWe are going through one of the very infrequent, but somewhat welcome rainy periods at the moment. It seems to have been raining ever since I dropped Sands off at the airport yesterday morning. It has certainly rained all through the night and and I write this the visibility outside is very poor indeed.
By far the main benefit of rain like this is that it washed the Jeep!!! I can’t recall the last time I cleaned the Jeep, so a good rain fall tends to be the only cleaning it ever gets - maybe I should leave the windows open and see if it can clean out the inside as well?
In general the rain is welcome! It certainly clears the air of any humidity, and as everything can get very dusty (combination of sand and building work) it does give everything a good tidy up, and of course the plans welcome the respite from the sun.
However as you can see, it is pouring off the cliff at the back of the apartment.

On the downside the cats go stir crazy!! They remind me of when I was a small boy, trapped inside by the rain, and bored senseless. No matter how many great toys, books, records (remember those!!), puzzles etc you had, the fact that you couldn’t go outside just made you want to even more. I remember the feeling of release that you got when the rain eventually stopped and you were allowed back out to play. Moreno was just like that yesterday in the afternoon.
These days I am actually pretty happy when it rains! Every now and again I think it is great to lock the doors, shut out the outside world and just veg out on the sofa with some comfort food a book and some films ……..
Unfortunately I wont be doing that today because:
- There is no food in the house
- The chances of the cats allowing me is zero
- I have two meetings down in the Marina (yep just my luck that I arrange them on rainy days!)
- I should really try and fix my neighbours Print Server issue - I truly HATE Vista and any Windows PC!!!!
So how do you spend your time when trapped indoors? You a patient inmate or a stir crazy one? I can tell you know that if she was here Sands would be stir crazy already!!!!!
