A Day In The Life Of - 2 Weeks
January 14th, 2008 - Sandra MarshallWell already it’s 2 weeks into the New Year, so it feels like a good time to review my ’sort of’ resolutions. Actually I didn’t make anything too specific but I have a number of things that I really want to focus on this year. The big one is Almerimar Life, as I have been ready for a while to have a work project back in my life, having spent the past 6 years or so mainly traveling where Chris’s work took us and not actually working much myself! My focus continues to be constantly improving the content and traffic on the site, and for me this means finding more time in the day to work on it.
I guess the other big thing for me this year IS focus! I have lots of things that I am interested in and I tend to be a bit of a dabbler! Almerimar Life will be a big priority this year, along with my continued interest in health and fitness, and FINALLY learning Spanish, which I haven’t even got stuck back into yet. My plan with Spanish is to start a series of journal entries on the site re. my progress that I would love comments on as I know I’m not the only one out there with good intentions but so far a lack of application here!
I’m also planning to: continue trying to do my bit to help the stray animals, get out and about more with friends, read all those books, watch those movies, listen to those podcasts, keep better contact with friends and family abroad, check out the area more +++ See what I mean? Focus IS going to be important, as I have too many things that I want to do already!
Anyway the key for me this year along with focus is to try not to be too tough on myself if I don’t get everything done in a day, to be more realistic about how long things are going to take, and to keep chipping away (patience is not one of my virtues). NOW I have too many ‘keys’. You see how hard it is to keep things simple and stay focused?
The other main thing (is this another key?!) for me is to avoid distractions. A recent one was the easyJet newsletter( Cheap Flights ). The idea of a quick trip to the UK to hit the sales with my sister is very tempting! BUT I have also been enjoying traveling less over the past year and being based at home in Almerimar. SO I’m looking forward to this my first really settled year here, and developing Almerimar Life so that hopefully more people in the future with be encouraged to benefit from this great expat lifestyle in Spain.
SO how are you all doing? Are you busy giving things up OR taking on more things like me? Whatever it is or if you have decided to make no NY resolutions,(as suggested in my previous post: New Year Resolutions 2! ) here’s hoping we all achieve something good this year.
About Almerimar
Almerimar is located in the region of Andalucia, Spain. The nearest airport is 30km away in Almeria. Other airports that are within 3 hours include Malaga, Murcia, Granada, and Alicanti. Other holiday resorts in the region include Mojacar , Aguadulce and Roquetas de Mar
Almerimar is a great place to live as an expat amongst the expats, or to work amongst the Spanish. There are all kinds of properties including villas, apartments and town houses for rent or sale. It is a very traditional part of Spain, with traditional Spanish foods so if you plan to travel to Spain either to look for jobs, for your company to trade with companies in Spain, or to learn Spanish and enjoy the Spanish weather then come and take a look.

Almerimar is also one of the largest marinas in Spain with over 2,000 births and excellent boatyard facilities.
